Our Home Remodel: Family Room

I am back sharing more of our home tour. This week I wanted to share with y'all our family room.  Our family absolutely loves this room.  We spend so much time here --it’s our go to spot for Friday night pizza & movies, cheering on our Aggies, & just hanging out with family & friends.

When we bought the house, as you can see, it had a really yellow feel to it.  The walls and ceiling were a beige, as was the tile & the stone on the fireplace.  I really wanted to lighten up this room, like we did the rest of the house.

Before we purchased the house.

We painted walls, ceilings & trim.  We carried the hardwoods throughout this room. We also didn't like that the TV built ins were on an angle, so we had our carpenter straighten that out for us. The vaulted ceiling in the space was screaming for some character, so we planked it, painted it white & made the beams a little more substantial.

Then after being in the home for around seven years, it was time to refresh the space a little bit. Our walls were gross because of tiny handprints from when the kids were younger & when you paint with a flat paint (because at the time I didn't know any better) you can’t wipe away those handprints. So in early 2022, it was time to have the house repainted . Instead of doing the walls & trim in contrasting colors, I decided to do everything in Sherwin Williams Snowbound. It’s a really pretty white that isn’t to stark, but also not too warm. However, once everything was painted our pretty stone fireplace looked extremely yellow. We decided to give it an updated & fresh look by using Romabio Limewash in Avario White on it to brighten it up & I couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out.

Someone commented last week on one of my Instagram posts about how they have enjoyed watching my style evolve over the years. Looking at these pictures from when we first bought our home until today, it truly is fascinating. I am still a lover of antiques & vintage rugs and find was to incorporate them into our home, but also feel that I’ve become a less is more girl.

As always, you can shop our home under the ‘Shop’ tab or head over to my LTK to find our home & other collections that I have put together.
