Patio Days Are Here

Hello, spring! We’ve been waiting for you to show up with some sunshine. We’ve had an abnormally cool early Spring. Now that the weather has warmed up (we know it will feel like summer within the next few weeks) & the pollen has left the air, it means it’s time to get outside and our family loves to hang out together on our patio at the end of the day! Every year, I get motivated to freshen up our patio space with some new decor. We invested a lot into our outdoor furniture when we added on our outdoor kitchen area (more coming on that to the blog soon), because we wanted pieces that would last for the next 10-15 years. But with my smaller decor items-rugs, lanterns, pillows, the more budget friendly the better, because we know how harsh Texas weather is on those things.

When it comes to finding pieces to style my patio with, I like to keep it simple per usual! If you have an outdoor conversation area, I think a rug is where you start. It adds texture, creates a defined space & truly makes it feel cozier. I’ll always tell you to add throw pillows for another added texture & comfort, but I don’t have any. If I’m being honest, it’s just another thing to pick up because the kids or dogs throw them off & the geckos hide on them. (Full disclosure, this photo was taken a few years ago & styled for this shoot. There are no longer any pillows in this space, but I am on the hunt for a great rug).

Real or faux greenery is a must! Just because it’s going outside, doesn’t mean the greenery has to be real, especially if you don’t have a great green thumb or just don’t want to have to deal with the maintenance of real flowers. This year I bought faux plants for our front & side porches & I don’t regret it one bit.

Lanterns are an easy add and I like to get simple table setting decor for when we entertain. Some new placemats, napkins and drink-ware can really make you feel like you’ve spruced up your patio without having to spend a lot of money.

Speaking of entertaining, having an outdoor bar cart is never a bad idea! Whether you drink lemonade or sangria, bar carts are a great piece to use when you have guests over. You create a self-serve drink set up for your guests with glasses, mixers, wine, liquor, ice, fixings and more!

These are just a few of my patio-refresh items I love. I’ve created some fun designs & must haves that will work in any outdoor space for you to shop from. Y’all enjoy!
