The Unexpected Yes That Led to Our New Build

To make a long story short… we weren’t planning to build.

When we first decided to move out of Houston, we had one goal in mind: find a one-story home on a little land. Something peaceful, with space to roam, raise our kids, and make memories. We weren’t chasing anything extravagant—just something that felt like us.

We didn’t find the perfect house. But we did find a home. We fell in love with our current property, the charm of the house, and our sweet neighbors. That home became the launchpad for my interior design career—remodeled in phases, layered with love, and full of stories. It’s been such a special place.

But over the past few years, things started shifting.

The area around us is growing fast. And with two busy kids and five acres to manage, we started feeling stretched. At the same time, a quiet dream I’ve carried for years kept stirring—designing a home just for our family. After 10 years of creating homes for other people, I had such a clear vision for what our family needed.

And then came one of those unmistakable God moments.

Some friends of ours told us they were developing land just a little further out. Still close enough to keep the kids at the same school. Still near everything we love. And here’s the sweetest part—our best friends will be living next door. And some of our closest friends are just down the street. It felt like a gift that only God could orchestrate.

We said yes.

We’ve had the land for almost a year now, slowly and intentionally working on the plans. This home will be one story, but it’s spacious—designed with purpose and heart. There’s no wasted space, just room for real life to unfold. It’s not about being big. It’s about being right for us.

And we’re so thankful. So blessed. To get to do this. To get to build something from the ground up with intention and prayer behind every decision.

My deepest hope for this house is that it will be filled with friends and family for years to come. That it will be a place of peace, laughter, rest, and welcome. That the walls will hold stories, and the rooms will reflect who we are and what we value most.

We’re not just building a house. We’re building a home. One that’s rooted in faith, designed with intention, and ready for the next chapter of our family’s story.

And if you’ve ever dreamed of starting fresh—I hope this reminds you that it’s never too late.

Thanks for being here. I can’t wait to bring you along for every step of this journey.
