Our Home Remodel: Formal Living Room

We are back for another week of our home remodel & today I’m sharing our formal living room. I feel like I say this every time I show before & afters of our home, but paint completely change a room.

Let’s dive into what all we did in this room. First up, the floors, we sanded those down & did a lighter stain color on them. We rebuilt the built ins to the left of the fireplace, got rid of the fluted trim work & ornate mantel. We redid the spindles on the staircase to give it a more casual look, added reclaimed beams to the ceiling, removed the fan & replaced it with a light fixture & paint.

Our house is not open concept & it’s one of the things I love about it. Called me old fashion, but I love having rooms with walls & separation in our home. There aren’t many homes that have a formal sitting room these days, but I truly love ours. I love sitting in this room in the afternoons & watching the kids play in the backyard. Hanging out with my husband recapping our days & just having a space to sit in the quiet.
